Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for commercial projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to contribute to complex, large-scale projects in one of the world's most dynamic cities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical systems for commercial buildings, including power distribution, lighting, and communication systems.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation in compliance with industry standards and local building codes.
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and project stakeholders to develop and coordinate MEP designs.
- Conduct site inspections and evaluations to ensure project designs are being executed correctly and within scope.
- Analyze electrical load calculations and develop energy-efficient designs.
- Review and respond to RFI (Requests for Information) during the construction phase.
- Ensure designs comply with New York City regulations, building codes, and energy efficiency standards.
- Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering technologies and integrate innovative solutions into project designs.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York (or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).
- 3-7 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in commercial projects.
- Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and New York City electrical code.
- Experience with LEED projects and sustainable design practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
