We have a current opportunity for a Lead Naval Architect on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Singapore. For further information about this position please apply.
Responsibilities:
- Report to Engineering & Technical department.
- Competence in performing the hydrodynamic and mooring calculations.
- Basic Naval architecture calculations such as hydrostatics & stability (MAXSURF or similar)
- Hydrodynamic / motion analysis (ORCAWAVE)
- Mooring strength / fatigue calculation (ORCAFLEX and Ariane3Dynamic)
- Riser/umbilical dynamic analysis
- Specification for mooring line and other system components.
- Model test specifications and oversee model tests
- Guide and mentor junior engineers in resolving problems, review their work as a lead engineer which will include structural drawings as well as mechanical components.
- Write clear reports for the analysis performed and participate in discussions with clients.
- Proactively communicate with customers and certification authorities during bids, FEEDs, Project design reviews, Document approval, Specification preparations.
- Use technical expertise to support business development activities as and when required.
- Constantly strive to improve engineering practices and quality of documentation.
- Follow processes and procedures in line with company's vision + mission & HSEQA policies.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering (Naval Architecture or Offshore engineering) and a passion for hydrodynamics & mooring systems.
- Minimum 7 years of working experience in engineering department of a shipyard, wind renewable sector, consultancy or offshore O&G industry, of which focus was in leading the hydrodynamic and mooring analysis related projects.
- Proficiency using Orcina suite and Python script writing is a must.
- Familiar with Classification Society rules on mooring system design & analysis.
- Experience with deep water mooring systems using polyester ropes is preferred.
- Knowledge of MAXSURF, Rhino3D, ANSYS or NX is an added advantage.
- Good command in English and strong report writing skills.
