Reporting to the Director of Project Development, the Manager, Project Development is responsible for the development of renewable energy projects in the West region as a key member of a regional team charged with the development and execution into construction of the company's project pipeline. The position will lead the development of a portfolio of projects and will work with various teams across the full project lifecycle required to bring projects to successful commercial operation.
Candidates should have prior professional renewable energy project development experience with skills across project siting, land and real estate, regulatory and environmental permitting, interconnection, and transmission and power marketing. Candidates should also have experience with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) engagement and have been through one or more successful project financing processes. Preferred experience developing projects in multiple technologies and experience in specific markets.

- Maintaining industry relationships/contacts and stay informed about market drivers, industry trends, and competitive dynamics.
- Managing and executing the development of renewable energy projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, financing, and handover to construction.
- Identifying, proposing, and implementing creative or alternative project development approaches.
- Directing and conducting due diligence on development-stage projects.
- Managing and administering development services agreements with local/regional development partners.
- Collaborating with the engineering team and external consultants.
- Coordinating and providing input to project interconnection requests and other necessary aspects of securing project transmission.
- Leading or supporting the negotiation and diligence of critical project contracts and agreements.
- Conducting critical reviews of project pro forma models.
- Leading projects through financing diligence efforts.
- Marketing development-stage projects for new power purchase and offtake agreements.
- Creating and managing project budgets and schedules.
- Maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity with respect to all functions.
The qualifications for this role include...
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the renewable energy industry in the U.S.
- Experience and familiarity with all facets of land development.
- Experience managing project schedules and project budgets.
- Experience managing cross-functional employee groups and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of the development life cycle of renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations, or customer/market signals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects/work streams, set priorities, and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to travel as required (>25%).
