Position: Project Engineer
Reports to: Head of Project Execution
Project Engineer Overview:
A green hydrogen developer is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer (PE) to join our team and manage various projects involving clean hydrogen, ammonia, and other hydrogen-based derivatives. The PE will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating engineering tasks for multiple projects either under development or construction. You will work closely with managers in engineering, project management, procurement, and installation & commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables and stakeholder clarifications.
The PE's primary goal is to keep the project on schedule and reduce technical risks during installation/commissioning by providing clear and accurate documentation promptly. Additional duties include devising project-specific solutions, coordinating with vendors, managing procurement and logistics, participating in technical and progress meetings, and supporting management during FEED studies and EPC project execution.
Project Engineer Responsibilities:
- Grasp project requirements including processes, applications, and deliverables.
- Focus on critical documentation such as PFD, P&ID, GA drawings, Equipment Lists, layouts, and 3D models.
- Lead the selection process for technology, OEMs, and products by setting criteria to meet specific technical requirements.
- Review product documentation and apply requirements to plant and utility designs.
- Participate in project meetings for progress, design reviews, and risk assessments like HAZOP, HAZID. Develop and assess Bills of Materials for installation and ensure their completeness.
- Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and explore cost-saving innovations in design, sourcing, and installation.
- Manage outsourced engineering activities, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
- Lead teams in executing engineering activities for green hydrogen, green ammonia, and other hydrogen-based projects.
- Use cost-effective execution techniques to develop optimal project solutions.
- Provide input during all design phases, including interpreting standards.
- Engage in key project meetings such as Kick-Off Meetings (KOM), Customer Coordination Meetings, Pre-Inspection Meetings, and Design Review Meetings.
Project Engineer Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in proposals, FEED, and EPC within the Chemicals or Oil and Gas sectors.
- Proficient in engineering practices, international codes & standards, and statutory norms.
- Experience in project engineering for medium to large-scale complex projects.
- Knowledge of work safety procedures and risk evaluation.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning and document management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, CAD, and 3D software.
- Understanding of engineering planning and control methods.
- Preferred experience with reputable EPC companies.
- Experience with projects involving hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol is advantageous.
- Professional registration and membership in a technical society are preferred.
