Job Advertisement: Principal Environmental Compliance Specialist
Location: San Diego, Irvine, or Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $105,000 - $200,000 DOE
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our Client's dynamic team in Southern California. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong consulting background and extensive knowledge of environmental regulations in the region, particularly with agencies such as DTSC, Cal-EPA, and Cal-OSHA, as well as federal regulations including RCRA, CWA, CAA, and EPCRA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage environmental compliance projects across various sectors, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide expert guidance and support to clients on complex compliance issues, including regulatory interpretations and permitting requirements.
- Conduct thorough environmental assessments and audits to identify compliance gaps and develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory permits, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Drive business development efforts, including client relationship management, proposal writing, and participating in industry events.
- Mentor and train junior staff members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of Southern California environmental regulations and agencies (DTSC, Cal-EPA, Cal-OSHA, etc.) as well as federal regulations (RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, etc.).
- Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in client management and business development.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
