Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Planner with expertise in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will play a key role in managing and overseeing environmental planning projects, conducting impact assessments, and ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to provide strategic guidance and develop innovative environmental solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage environmental planning projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, timeline, and budget.
- Conduct thorough environmental assessments and impact analyses in compliance with CEQA and NEPA regulations.
- Prepare and review environmental documents, including Initial Studies, Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs).
- Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, scientists, and other specialists, to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and design.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to facilitate effective communication and consensus-building throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay up to date with the latest environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance and provide expert advice to clients.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental planning, with a strong focus on CEQA and NEPA compliance in California.
- In-depth knowledge of CEQA and NEPA regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Proven experience in managing and overseeing environmental planning projects, including the preparation of environmental documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess potential environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex environmental concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in engaging with regulatory agencies, clients, and community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Professional certification or membership in relevant industry associations (e.g., AICP, CEQA/NEPA associations) is preferred.
