Our client is a leading engineering firm based in Burlington, Canada. They are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled senior forensic structural engineer to join their dynamic team.
Job overview:
As a Senior Forensic Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting investigations into various types of buildings using your expertise in structural design to find the cause and origin of faults or damages. Your role will include determining the cause of damage or failure within structures by performing site inspections; reviewing construction documents such as blueprints and specifications; analysing data collected during field work; preparing technical reports for insurance companies that include recommendations on how best to repair damaged structures while ensuring compliance with local codes/regulations/standards.

- Preparing clear & concise technical reports outlining findings/recommendations.
- Collaborating effectively with other engineers involved in projects where necessary.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess all/most these qualifications listed below;
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Structural Engineering
P.Eng license in Ontario
Skills Required:
1. Forensic structural skills - The ideal candidate must have at least five years' experience working as a structural engineer specialising within design and restoration ranging from commercial high-rises, single family residences ,and apartments complexes among others. Interest in forensic engineering is required and experience is beneficial.
2. Building Science knowledge - You'll need excellent understanding about materials used when constructing different kinds of spaces including but not limited too masonry, cement blocks, lumber/solid wood beams, glass, along many more so they can identify which specific components could fail over time due weather patterns, human error, wear out, functional misalignment/issues et al. In particular, experience with wood frames is required.
3. Safety standards-compliance knowledge- The ideal applicant has good familiarity concerning federal, state/provincial/local government regulations governing civil works especially those pertaining occupational health & safety procedures required maintain safe space operations.
Salary: $120,000-130,000 p.a plus 30% bonus based on billable earnings
