Required Skills and Experience:
- Instrumentation and Control Design: Extensive experience designing instrumentation and control systems for chemical, refining, petrochemical, and specialty chemical plants. This includes preparing instrument specifications, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, and related documents.
- PLC and DCS Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of PLC and DCS systems such as Allen Bradley, Emerson-Delta V, Yokogawa, and Honeywell. Capable of designing control systems, preparing network diagrams, and specifying control equipment.
- Detailed Design Expertise: Proficient in PID development, creating instrumentation and control equipment specifications, datasheets, PLC control programming, and HMI development.
- Industry Standards Knowledge: Familiar with NFPA/70-NEC, IEC, ISA, and other relevant codes and standards for design requirements.
- Subcontract Development: Experience in developing subcontract scopes for instrument and control system installations, including integration tasks.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Team and Independent Work: Proven capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control Systems Design: Apply knowledge of digital and analog control systems to design regulatory and supervisory process controls. Develop control philosophy and coordinate work among various disciplines and the instrumentation department.
- Project Management: Create engineering work-hour estimates, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules. Control and report on the progress of instrument and control design to ensure timely project execution.
- Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients on instrument specifications and control philosophy issues, related to P&ID diagrams, control systems design, and wiring of distributed control systems and programmable controllers.
- Team Leadership: Supervise engineering and design personnel assigned to projects. Plan manpower needs and schedule engineering activities.
- Technical Leadership: Lead as a working engineering and design discipline leader, offering technical guidance and ensuring the quality of the design team's output.
- Project Liaison: Serve as the liaison with plant and construction personnel for ongoing domestic and international projects.
- Regulatory Coordination: Work with local authorities to ensure compliance with local regulations and obtain necessary permits.
Educational and Professional Requirements:
- Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, specializing in Instrumentation and Control Systems.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in front-end and detailed engineering design for heavy industrial plants.
- Certification: PE license is highly desirable.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
- Field Experience: Practical experience in fieldwork is essential.
