A national ENR Top 500 Design Firm is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Survey Manager to join its team in California. The Survey Manager will be responsible for overseeing the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, quality assurance/quality control, and completion of survey projects within our private development and public infrastructure markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of survey projects, monitoring operational effectiveness throughout.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for survey-related activities, including construction staking, topographic surveying, platting, legal description writing, boundary analysis, and legal principles.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to define project tasks, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Evaluate project budgets and analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, billing rates, and utilization in conjunction with Project Managers.
- Ensure compliance with and enforce company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Engage in the continual improvement process and formal knowledge transfer/lessons learned.
- Participate in the quality service/client feedback process, including soliciting feedback, following up, and documenting it in the system.
- Conduct team meetings with project staff to evaluate and coordinate project activities.
- Stay current on service-specific trends, technology, software, hardware, and equipment.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to project team members as needed.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance related to survey activities on each project.
- Ensure that division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
- Lead by example, demonstrating solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Professional Survey License in Colorado (additional states preferred).
- Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a consulting business.
- Extensive multi-discipline experience with a strong understanding of commercial, residential, and public infrastructure markets and projects.
- Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects efficiently.
