Responsibilities:
- Structural Design: Develop innovative and efficient designs for glazing systems and metal cladding, ensuring safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
- Repairs and Retrofitting: Assess existing wood frame buildings, propose structural repairs, and implement seismic retrofitting solutions.
- Field Review: Conduct on-site inspections during fabrication and installation, providing detailed reports.
- Engineering Calculations: Prepare accurate engineering calculations and collaborate with Senior Engineers and Clients to find optimal solutions.
- Problem Investigation: Investigate glazing system performance issues and document structural failures encountered in the field.
- Drafting and Visualization: Create sketches, drawings, 3D diagrams, and renderings using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Rhino.
- Collaboration: Liaise with the Structural Engineer of Record, other consultants, contractors, and building officials.
- Documentation: Review architectural and structural drawings, maintenance records, and repair documents to align with project requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare well-written reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science with a structural concentration.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification; interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (P.E.).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software.
- Technical knowledge in building science is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Self-motivated team player with leadership potential.
- Ability to visualize structural and architectural details in three dimensions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
