LVI are in search of an Engineer with experience, and interest, in forensic engineering. This role will allow you to work closely with owners, investors, insurance agents, and contractors, to provide them with expert-level recommendations and consulting services on residential, and commercial projects in the Midwestern region.

You will be joining the forensic team that consists of highly skilled and knowledgeable engineers and architects. We collaborate with international insurance companies as well as locally and nationally based legal practices to offer expert assistance on a broad range of forensic cases.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct forensic field inspections into the cause and origin of incidents related to residential and commercial property damage claims and/or construction or design defect claims.
- Research failures attributed to the building design or construction to determine the cause and origin of the incident.
- Make sure all assignments are completed with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism;
- Take part in business development activities and presentations; this includes maintaining regular contact with both current and potential clients in the area;
- Guarantee client satisfaction by completing projects on schedule and within budget;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structures or relevant engineering degree.
- At least four years of experience in residential and commercial building design and construction-related activities, or residential and commercial building design and inspection. Although not necessary, prior forensic investigation expertise is encouraged.
- Strong familiarity with the residential (IRC), commercial (IBC), and current (IEBC) I-codes; comprehension of the components of wood framing and foundations; and preference for understanding building envelope requirements
- Proficiency in computer operations and standard software packages, such as Microsoft Office, is mandatory. Preference for proficiency with MathCAD
- Capable of carrying out difficult activities without assistance;
- Able to walk on sloping terrain and operate a 24-foot extension ladder
