Opportunity at a well-established multi-disciplinary firm, with a strong presence across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Steel Inspector to join our Testing & Inspection division at the Manassas headquarters. This is a critical role where you will ensure that all projects are built according to approved plans and specifications, and contribute to the successful completion of complex engineering projects.

With such a strong commitment to on-site training along with rigorous certification compliance (WACEL, AWS, VDOT), and properly calibrated test equipment results in accurately performed tests and inspections one can complete tasks to the highest degree while also furthering one's own knowledge of their industry.;
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications:
- WACEL or AWS Certification: As a Structural Steel Inspector, you should have a thorough understanding of the latest welding and testing techniques, as well as knowledge of industry standards.
- Direct experience with joist bearing: You should have a wealth of experience working with various types of joists and girders, and be able to interpret the required weld sizes for each.
- Bolting and tensioning requirements knowledge: You should have an in-depth understanding of bolting and tensioning requirements, and be able to apply them in a variety of situations.
- Experience working on column plumb anchor bolt installation requirements: You should have a keen eye for detail, and be able to ensure that columns are installed according to the required specifications.
- Deck Installation Requirements Knowledge: You should be familiar with the installation requirements for various types of decks and be able to ensure that they are installed correctly.
- Interpretation ability of contracts: You should be able to read and interpret contracts, and have a thorough understanding of their implications.
- Ability to read steel shop drawings: You should be able to read and interpret complex steel shop drawings, and have a strong understanding of engineering principles.
- Knowledgeable with fall prevention when walking steel at various heights: You should have a strong understanding of fall prevention techniques, and be able to apply them when working at various heights.
Skills Required:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following skills:
- Direct experience working within light gauge metal framing constructions: You should be familiar with the latest industry standards and practices, and be able to apply them in your work.
- Ability to interpret industry standards while applying inspection procedures through vast experiences: You should have a wealth of experience working in the industry, and be able to apply this knowledge to your work.
- Proficiently knowledgeable about jobsite safety, especially during structural erection inspections: You should have a strong understanding of jobsite safety, and be able to ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
- Strong communication skills: You should be able to communicate effectively with team members and clients, and be able to provide clear and concise reports.
