We have a current opportunity for a Substation Operator on a permanent basis. This position is based in Central/North California.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate outage requests in coordination with transmission operations groups
- Coordinate electrical clearances, perform field switching operations and administer lock out and tagging procedures
- Supervise various craft laborers
- Read and understand engineering schematics and technical documents that pertain to transmission protection systems and communication equipment
- Provide on-call support as requested to investigate and respond to certain events such as a relay operations disturbance
- Travel locally, including some overnight trips
Qualifications:
- Must have completed a technical or vocational training program as a substation or relay technician
- 5-10 years of relevant electrical utility experience
- Have a basic understanding of protective relaying, communication, metering and SCADA systems
- Posses an understanding of maintenance work (ie: substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers & switches).
- Great communication and organizational skills
