Project Engineer (BAS / HVAC Controls Systems)

Overview

Our client is seeking a BAS Project Engineer to support the delivery of building automation and HVAC projects. Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Coordination

  • Assist Project Managers with the delivery of construction and service-based projects
  • Coordinate with engineering and controls teams to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Review system designs, programming, and user interfaces, providing feedback where required
  • Identify and communicate system deficiencies and support resolution

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Support project kick-off meetings with internal teams
  • Work closely with field teams to ensure design intent is successfully implemented
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to ensure quality and compliance
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and technical staff to maintain high standards of installation

Communication & Documentation

  • Attend project meetings and support communication across stakeholders
  • Coordinate with multiple trades to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provide regular progress updates to internal stakeholders
  • Participate in Health & Safety activities and ensure adherence to standards

Continuous Improvement & Team Contribution

  • Identify training and development opportunities within the team
  • Promote efficient working practices and process improvements
  • Maintain a proactive, adaptable approach to workload and priorities
  • Build strong working relationships with both internal teams and external clients

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or
  • Associate degree / technical certification or
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Background in electronics, mechanical systems, or programming preferred
  • Valid driver's license required

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and design
  • Experience with Tridium (N4 or AX certification preferred)
  • Familiarity with Distech Controls
  • Experience programming controllers within at least one major OEM platform
  • Ability to review system designs and operate independently
