Position Overview

The Civil Engineering Principal will lead the delivery of complex projects from concept through completion while maintaining oversight of financial performance and supporting business development efforts. This role is highly strategic, combining technical leadership, client engagement, and operational management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, providing regular updates to stakeholders
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and vendors to ensure efficient project execution
  • Identify and mitigate risks while resolving project challenges proactively
  • Oversee project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
  • Monitor costs, labor utilization, and overall efficiency to drive profitability
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
  • Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and expanding client relationships
  • Participate in proposals, presentations, and client meetings to secure new work
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and industry partners
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, including project management
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and P&L
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
