Role Overview:
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead HVAC and mechanical systems design across the firm's architectural and development projects. You'll collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and external consultants to deliver integrated, high-performance building systems. This role offers the chance to establish standards, mentor junior staff, and contribute to strategic planning as the MEP group scales.
Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design for HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling.
- Produce and oversee construction documentation and specifications.
- Coordinate with internal design teams and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of building systems.
- Support sustainability goals through energy-efficient design and compliance with local energy codes.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring and team development.
- Participate in business development efforts and client presentations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts or ability to obtain.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical systems design for buildings.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy codes, and sustainable design principles.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant mechanical design tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping build a new practice area.
