Owner's Representative - Multifamily Construction - New York City
A prominent real estate development organization in New York City is seeking an experienced Owner's Representative to oversee multifamily and affordable housing projects from pre‑development through construction completion. This position offers the opportunity to guide high‑impact developments that contribute meaningfully to the city's housing landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management activities across all phases of development.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and reporting structures.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Manage procurement, bidding, and contract negotiation.
- Oversee construction progress, pay applications, quality control, and compliance with project documents.
- Interface with local and state agencies regarding permits, zoning, building codes, and affordable housing requirements.
- Anticipate project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide detailed project updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Required Experience
- 5-10+ years of relevant experience in real estate development, owner's representation, or construction management.
- Direct experience overseeing multifamily and/or affordable housing projects in New York City.
- Strong working knowledge of NYC building codes, zoning processes, DOB procedures, and affordable housing programs (HPD, HDC, HUD, LIHTC).
- Demonstrated success managing consultant teams and general contractors.
- Hands‑on experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with project management software (such as Procore or MS Project).
- Detail‑oriented, analytical, and solution-focused.
