Overview
Our client is seeking a Project Engineer III to support transmission and utility infrastructure projects. This role involves performing electric utility engineering and design work, providing technical expertise, and solving complex engineering challenges with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will lead technical efforts, mentor junior engineers and technicians, and deliver high-quality engineering designs, specifications, and construction documentation for utility clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of RUS and NESC standards to transmission and distribution engineering projects.
- Design and analyze overhead transmission and distribution lines using PLS-CADD software.
- Develop detailed engineering calculations, technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and design sketches.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, material lists, and construction packages for utility projects.
- Support the development and maintenance of engineering and design standards.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture by following established safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Conduct field visits and site inspections to support project design, construction, and quality assurance efforts.
- Provide guidance and technical oversight to junior engineering and drafting staff.
- Travel as needed to support project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 4 years of transmission and/or distribution engineering experience.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD.
- Strong understanding of utility design standards, including RUS and NESC requirements.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
