Project Engineer - Mechanical Construction - Phoenix, AZ

A well-established mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale mechanical construction projects in the Phoenix market. This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineering professional to play a key role in high‑profile commercial and industrial projects while gaining exposure across project management, scheduling, QA/QC, and BIM/CADD coordination.

Position Overview

The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Project Directors to support the successful execution of major mechanical construction projects. This role is central to day-to-day operations and provides broad exposure across documentation, cost tracking, scheduling, safety, BIM coordination, and customer-facing activities.

The position is ideal for an individual looking to grow their engineering and project management career while contributing to technically challenging construction environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining all project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, specification reviews, subcontracts, change orders, and tracking logs
  • Support development and ongoing updates of project schedules, including labor forecasts, equipment lead times, fabrication deliveries, and rentals
  • Assist with job cost tracking, billing support, and financial documentation as needed
  • Participate in jobsite safety planning, including hazard analysis, pre-task planning, safety walks, and toolbox talks
  • Support QA/QC requirements and field verification activities
  • Coordinate BIM/CADD efforts and support integration of models into field operations
  • Assist with procurement activities, subcontractor coordination, and customer communication
  • Perform additional project-related duties as directed by project leadership

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred Background

  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field with 3-5 years of construction experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across project teams, vendors, and field leadership
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and other MS Office tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
