Job Title: Project Estimator - Solar Construction

Location: West Des Moines, Iowa (Hybrid potential)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Estimator to join our team in West Des Moines, Iowa. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in solar energy projects, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable working in a hybrid setting. The Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar construction projects, supporting both pre-construction and business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for solar energy projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid packages.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on scope and pricing.
  • Evaluate historical data and market trends to improve accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
  • Participate in bid reviews and presentations to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain and update estimating tools, databases, and cost libraries.
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during project planning.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a focus on solar or renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, RSMeans, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with utility-scale or commercial solar installations.
  • Familiarity with permitting and regulatory requirements for solar projects.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for site visits or client meetings.
