About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Estimator to join our team in West Des Moines, Iowa. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in solar energy projects, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable working in a hybrid setting. The Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar construction projects, supporting both pre-construction and business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for solar energy projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid packages.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on scope and pricing.
- Evaluate historical data and market trends to improve accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Maintain and update estimating tools, databases, and cost libraries.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during project planning.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a focus on solar or renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, RSMeans, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with utility-scale or commercial solar installations.
- Familiarity with permitting and regulatory requirements for solar projects.
- Ability to travel occasionally for site visits or client meetings.
