Job Description Details
- Design and develop traffic control systems, including signals, signage, and roadway layouts
- Develop transportation plans and design transportation systems that improve safety and mobility
- Conduct traffic studies and analyze data to assess current conditions and forecast future needs
- Utilize AutoCAD and other design software to create detailed engineering plans
- Assist in the development of system designs that improve traffic flow and safety
- Engage in transportation planning initiatives to support sustainable development
- Work with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
- Oversee and lead projects, including project planning, design and implementation, and closeout
- Conduct site visits and field investigations as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering
- Familiarity with transportation planning concepts and methodologies
- Project management experience
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD, SYNCHRO, VISSIM, or SIDRA
- Ability to collaborate with other engineers, city planners, and the public to develop transportation solutions
- Strong decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality, and attention to detail
