Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join their Indianapolis office. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from local developments to large, complex infrastructure programs, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams nationwide.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in geotechnical analysis, design, project execution, and mentoring junior engineers, with a clear pathway toward project management and leadership advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced geotechnical analyses, including design of deep foundations, pile systems, underpinning, and excavation support
  • Prepare and review technical deliverables such as proposals, geotechnical reports, construction documents, and project correspondence
  • Supervise geotechnical field investigations and construction observation activities, including earthwork, foundations, and ground improvement
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budgets, and quality standards
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, progress reports, change orders, and client billings
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff
  • Support business development efforts and long-term client relationships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's degree with geotechnical emphasis preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on field experience, including construction observation and subsurface investigations
  • Expertise in mass grading, deep foundations, excavation support, ground improvement, and subgrade preparation
  • Strong experience producing technical reports, construction documents, and client-facing deliverables
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software and quantitative engineering methods
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines
