A reputable heavy civil contractor specializing in site development and infrastructure projects is seeking an experienced Estimator to support preconstruction and competitive bid efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and related civil scopes.
- Analyze plans, specifications, and addenda to determine project requirements.
- Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Participate in bid reviews, pricing strategy discussions, and proposal preparation.
- Support project handoff to operations after award.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil/site development.
- Strong ability to read civil drawings and perform accurate takeoffs.
- Familiarity with estimating software (HeavyBid, Agtek, or similar).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Strong communication, math, and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred Skills / Additional Responsibilities
- Experience with value engineering and alternative approaches to drive cost efficiency.
- Ability to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
- Understanding of local market conditions, production rates, and material pricing.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
