About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping systems to join a dynamic team at a leading mechanical contractor. This role is ideal for someone with 6+ years of experience in estimating for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and higher education projects.
You'll play a key role in analyzing project documents, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare bid proposals and budgets for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and cost analysis using estimating software.
- Collaborate with project teams to define scope, schedule, and pricing strategies.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
- Track market trends, labor rates, and material costs to maintain up-to-date pricing.
- Support project handoff and ensure alignment between estimate and execution.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a focus on plumbing, HVAC, and piping systems.
- Proven experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, and higher education sectors.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, QuickPen, or equivalent).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
