Team Lead - Land Development
Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Team Lead to join its growing Land Development group. With expertise spanning civil engineering, surveying, planning, environmental services, and construction support, the firm partners with public and private sector clients on a diverse range of development projects throughout the Southeast.
This position offers the opportunity to combine technical design, project management, client interaction, and staff mentorship within a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of land development projects from initial planning through construction
- Prepare and oversee site development plans including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway design, and erosion control measures
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop and review technical design documents
- Perform and review engineering calculations related to storm drainage, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer infrastructure, detention facilities, and stormwater management systems
- Coordinate permitting efforts with local municipalities and regulatory agencies
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance throughout the development process
- Conduct site visits and support construction-phase coordination when required
- Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting team development and project quality objectives
- Assist with project scheduling, resource management, and workload planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
- 5+ years of experience in land development engineering and project management
- EI/EIT certification required
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure in the near future
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience with design software such as HydroCAD, WaterCAD, Hydraflow, or similar stormwater and utility modeling platforms
- Experience designing residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use developments
- Strong understanding of local permitting processes and development regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment
