Remote Ignition Programmer - (Data Center Focus)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ignition Programmer with strong expertise in HMI/SCADA development to support automation initiatives within the data center industry. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy high‑performance HMI solutions using Inductive Automation's Ignition platform, ensuring reliable visualization, control, and monitoring across large‑scale data center environments.
This is a remote position, but candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and reside within the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
HMI / SCADA Development
- Design, build, and configure advanced Ignition Perspective and Vision interfaces for large data center operations.
- Develop intuitive, user-friendly screens, dashboards, and control workflows aligned with industry best practices.
- Create and maintain data bindings, scripting, templates, and reusable UI components.
System Integration
- Integrate Ignition with PLCs, APIs, databases, IIoT devices, and building management systems (BMS).
- Implement robust communication strategies (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, BACnet).
Automation Engineering
- Participate in the design and implementation of monitoring, alerting, and operational automation.
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability across distributed architectures.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities remotely.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with control engineers, data center operations teams, and cross‑functional IT/OT stakeholders.
- Prepare documentation including specifications, design artifacts, test plans, and user guides.
- Provide remote support for deployment, updates, and ongoing system maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on Ignition development experience (Perspective & Vision strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of HMI/SCADA principles, user interface/UX design, and industrial automation workflows.
- Experience with data center environments, BMS, or critical‑facility automation systems.
- Proficiency with Python scripting within Ignition.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, BACnet).
- Experience integrating databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and currently reside within the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ignition Gold or Core Certification.
- Experience with data center SCADA standards, large‑scale facility monitoring, and redundancy configurations.
- Knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider).
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with cloud‑hosted architectures or hybrid edge/SCADA deployments.
