About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Field Technician / Mechanical Specialist with deep expertise in diesel and/or natural gas engines, particularly in engine rebuild, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

This role focuses on restoring, stabilizing, and operating large industrial generator engines, including legacy equipment requiring systematic recommissioning.

You will work directly on multi-megawatt generator systems in a field environment, ensuring reliable operation from initial startup through full-load performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full engine teardown, inspection, rebuild, and reassembly
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and system-level issues on-site
  • Restore unstable equipment to reliable continuous operation (including fuel transitions)
  • Execute commissioning and recommissioning of generator units
  • Maintain fuel, lubrication, cooling, and air systems
  • Support startup, load testing, and operational stabilization
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
  • Work across various major engine platforms
  • Collaborate with teams to improve reliability and reduce downtime

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines
  • Proven experience with full engine rebuilds (teardown to reassembly)
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
  • Experience with industrial or power generation equipment
  • Familiarity with legacy equipment troubleshooting preferred
  • Background in oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industry
  • Comfortable working in field-based, hands-on environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with major engine OEM platforms
  • Multi-MW generator system experience
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills
  • Commissioning or recommissioning project experience
