Senior Mechanical Engineer
A leading full-service architecture and engineering firm with a history spanning more than a century is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to join its team. The firm provides comprehensive design services to both public and private sector clients across the Northeast, delivering projects that promote community and environmental benefits. Their portfolio includes work for federal, state, and local governments, higher education institutions, commercial offices, retail environments, housing developments, and custom residential projects.
Role Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing complete HVAC systems for building projects, collaborating with clients and internal teams to define project goals, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards. This position involves preparing clear and accurate drawings, specifications, and project documents using Revit and AutoCAD, as well as performing load calculations, selecting equipment, and developing cost estimates. The role also includes reviewing submittals during construction and conducting site visits to verify compliance with design documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical (HVAC) design within the A/E industry
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- EIT certification required; PE license preferred or active pursuit of licensure
- Strong communication skills and working knowledge of the International Building Code
- Experience in project management or team leadership is a plus
- U.S. Citizenship required due to potential access to classified information
Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC systems for a variety of building types
- Conduct field evaluations and measure-ups
- Perform code analysis and ensure design compliance
- Develop engineering scope, budget, and schedule
- Prepare contract documents and calculations using CADD and HVAC design software
- Coordinate Revit models and project documentation
- Review submittals and perform site visits during construction
