Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with experience designing and documenting complex medium to large-scale building structures across sectors such as commercial, institutional, mission critical, educational, aviation, or healthcare.
In this role, you'll lead engineering teams, collaborate with senior leadership, interface directly with clients, and oversee the technical and financial success of your projects. Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead a team of engineers delivering structural design projects, including stamping project documents and calculations.
- Conduct or oversee structural analysis and design using hand calculations and computer modeling.
- Perform structural detailing and prepare project general notes, typical details, and specifications.
- Coordinate structural design with architectural and MEP disciplines.
- Ensure deliverables are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
- Provide construction administration support including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and site observations.
- Develop internal technical training materials and participate in process improvement committees.
- Perform peer reviews and serve as a technical resource to peers.
Supervisory & Project Management
- Create and manage project work plans, task budgets, and team workloads.
- Lead internal and external structural design work sessions.
- Direct design team members to successful project completion and review their work.
- Assist with staff performance evaluations.
Client Engagement
- Attend and document client meetings.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients.
- Identify new client opportunities and help resolve project challenges.
Business Development
- Build relationships with external partners and represent the firm at industry events.
- Participate in committees, networking events, and occasional project pursuit interviews.
- Contribute to the development of pursuit strategies and work plans.
Business Management
- Support leadership with project data, pipelines, proposals, billings, and collections.
- Monitor project profitability and maintain proactive communication with clients regarding upcoming opportunities.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing & Experience
- BS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis required)
- MS preferred
- Minimum 6 years of experience (may be reduced with MS or SE license)
- PE license required (structural designation)
- NCEES Structural Engineering exam and SE license preferred
- Experience with:
- Concrete (including post-tensioned), steel, masonry, and wood
- Bentley RAM Structural System or Tekla Structural Designer
- Autodesk Revit and BIM 360
- Strong knowledge of applicable building codes
- Expertise in at least one advanced technical domain
