Substation P&C Assistant
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Substation Protection & Control (P&C) Assistant to support our engineering and field operations teams. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in electrical systems, particularly in substation environments, who are looking to grow their career in utility protection and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems in substations.
- Support engineers and technicians in relay testing, wiring verification, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, schematics, and equipment configurations.
- Coordinate with field crews and engineering teams to ensure timely project execution.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in substation or utility environments.
- Familiarity with protective relays, SCADA systems, and substation automation.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
AEP or Oncor vetted candidates strongly preferred.
(Experience working on AEP or Oncor projects or having completed their vetting/training programs is a significant plus.)Knowledge of NERC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.
Experience with relay testing software (e.g., Doble, Omicron).
