Substation P&C Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Substation Protection & Control (P&C) Assistant to support our engineering and field operations teams. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in electrical systems, particularly in substation environments, who are looking to grow their career in utility protection and control systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems in substations.
  • Support engineers and technicians in relay testing, wiring verification, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of test results, schematics, and equipment configurations.
  • Coordinate with field crews and engineering teams to ensure timely project execution.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in substation or utility environments.
  • Familiarity with protective relays, SCADA systems, and substation automation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AEP or Oncor vetted candidates strongly preferred.
    (Experience working on AEP or Oncor projects or having completed their vetting/training programs is a significant plus.)

  • Knowledge of NERC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.

  • Experience with relay testing software (e.g., Doble, Omicron).
