Position Overview
A well‑established mechanical services and construction contractor is seeking a skilled HVAC Estimator to support preconstruction efforts across the Raleigh market. This role focuses on delivering accurate, competitive estimates for commercial projects, working closely with sales, engineering, and operations teams in a service‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare HVAC estimates for commercial construction, retrofit, and design‑build projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope
- Perform detailed labor, material, and equipment take‑offs
- Develop conceptual budgets for negotiated and design‑build work
- Coordinate pricing and technical input with vendors and subcontractors
- Support bid reviews and pricing strategy discussions
- Identify project risks, assumptions, and value‑engineering opportunities
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and historical cost data
Required Qualifications
- Experience as an HVAC Estimator in a commercial mechanical contracting environment
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating and take‑off software
- Knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, and local market conditions
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- Design‑build or negotiated project estimating
- Exposure to healthcare, industrial, higher education, or life sciences projects
- Mechanical engineering degree, technical degree, or equivalent field experience
- Background working closely with service, operations, or long‑term client accounts
