Heavy Civil Superintendent - Transportation / DOT Projects
Locations: Casper, WY OR Cheyenne, WY
Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 base salary, depending on experience
Position Overview
A reputable general contractor is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to lead transportation and DOT construction projects in Wyoming. Openings are available in both Casper and Cheyenne, supporting roadway, highway, and infrastructure work.
This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day field operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule. The ideal candidate has a strong background in DOT‑driven heavy civil construction and thrives in a hands‑on leadership role.
Experience Needed
- Proven experience leading heavy civil and transportation / DOT projects
- Background with projects such as:
- Roadway and highway construction
- Earthwork and grading
- Drainage and underground utilities
- Concrete paving and structures
- Experience managing:
- Field crews and foremen
- Subcontractors and inspectors
- Daily work plans, schedules, and site logistics
- Familiarity with DOT specifications, inspection processes, and documentation
- Experience enforcing safety programs and maintaining jobsite compliance
Qualifications Required
- 7-15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, ideally with a general contractor
- Prior Superintendent or Lead Foreman experience on DOT or public‑works projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and survey data
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple crews and project phases simultaneously
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on project sites in Wyoming
