Survey Technician
Position: Survey CAD Technician
Location: Mason, Ohio
Overview:
A respected, multidisciplinary engineering and environmental firm is seeking a Survey Technician to support a wide range of land development, infrastructure, and surveying projects in the Mason, Ohio area. This role is focused on producing accurate and detailed survey drawings while working closely with field crews and internal engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare survey plats, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and topographic maps using CAD software
- Process and translate field data collected by survey crews (GPS, total stations, and other equipment) into finished drawings
- Develop base maps, easement exhibits, and construction staking plans
- Perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Maintain organized files and comply with company CAD standards and best practices
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in surveying, drafting, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in survey drafting or CAD production
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar design software)
- Strong understanding of survey principles, coordinate systems, and drafting standards
- Ability to interpret field notes, legal descriptions, and plats
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
- Familiarity with Ohio survey standards and local municipality requirements
- Exposure to land development or transportation-related projects
- Experience with point cloud data or advanced surface modeling tools
