Bridge Engineer | Chicago
My client, a respected U.S. consulting firm with a long history of engineering excellence, is seeking a talented Bridge Engineer to join their growing Bridge team. Known for delivering high‑quality engineering, planning, and design services for over 70 years, my client prides itself on a culture built around technical excellence, innovation, integrity, and long‑term relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of an established, highly skilled bridge engineering group while contributing to impactful transportation infrastructure projects throughout the region.
What You'll Do:
- Leading the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for bridges in accordance with IDOT and Tollway requirements.
- Completing structural analysis and design work focused on Illinois highway and Tollway structures.
- Reviewing shop drawings and performing structural inspections of bridges and roadway structures.
- Leading design meetings and coordinating efforts with multidisciplinary team members.
- Mentoring, training, and supporting the development of junior engineering staff.
- Applying current NBIS bridge inspection techniques to complete routine IDOT bridge inspections.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of structural bridge design or inspection experience using IDOT standards
- Bridge inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design software; proficiency in MicroStation preferred.
- PE license (IL) required.
- SE license (IL) required or ability to obtain within one year.
- Prior business development or project management experience is a plus.
