Description

A well-established professional engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Project Manager to join its Land Development practice. The team is comprised of experienced and collaborative professionals committed to delivering high-quality services to a diverse client base.

Responsibilities

  • Manage land development civil engineering projects to ensure schedules and budgets are met
  • Lead multidisciplinary civil design teams in the preparation of complete civil plan sets
  • Coordinate closely with owners, architects, and external consultants throughout project execution
  • Oversee internal technical support groups (survey, traffic, hydrology/hydraulics, etc.), ensuring alignment on technical scope, timelines, and budgets
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance and quality control procedures across project teams
  • Interface with municipal and county agencies to support permitting and plan approvals
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and allocate staff resources across various project phases
  • Administer construction-phase services, including responding to RFIs and attending contractor meetings
  • Supervise up to five (5) technical staff members, including:
    • Assigning and monitoring project responsibilities
    • Reviewing work for quality and completeness
    • Providing training and supporting professional growth
    • Promoting positive team morale and engagement
    • Contributing to performance reviews
    • Recommending promotions and compensation adjustments as appropriate

Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. The position is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of core civil engineering principles related to land development
  • Experience with cost estimating, bidding support, construction administration, and standard construction practices
  • Proficiency with CAD software (including Civil 3D) and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage resources effectively
  • Ability to communicate clearly across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated success managing projects profitably
  • Familiarity with alternative project delivery methods
  • Extensive knowledge of geometric design and related civil design elements
  • Experience throughout the full project lifecycle, from early studies through final design
  • History of winning and successfully delivering client projects
  • Experience with invoicing, accounts receivable, and overall design team financial management
  • Background in preparing proposals, scopes of work, and qualification packages
  • Experience developing and executing marketing and pursuit strategies
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal peers, and public agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and motivate team members

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of overall professional experience, including at least four (4) years in a Project Manager or equivalent role
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution (other degrees or experience may be considered based on qualifications)
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and regional offices as required

Salary Range

$100,000 - $160,000
