Community Relations Manager
(Gas, Thermal & Decarbonization)
Location: Greater Boston, MA (4 days a week in office)
Salary: Up to $130k base + 30% bonus
A leading clean energy company is seeking a Manager of Community Relations to support its growing Gas, Thermal & Decarbonization - Low Carbon business. This role is part of the External Affairs team and will work closely with development and asset management teams to lead community engagement and communications strategies for energy projects across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies for projects in development and operation.
- Serve as the primary community relations liaison.
- Build and maintain relationships with local officials, landowners, business leaders, and community members.
- Coordinate and attend community events, open houses, and informational sessions.
- Create and manage project communications materials (e.g., mailers, digital content, FAQs).
- Oversee external PR firms to ensure consistent messaging and effective outreach.
- Collaborate on charitable giving strategies aligned with project locations.
- Support broader corporate communications initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field (graduate degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or public affairs-ideally in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and mitigate community concerns.
- Experience working with political campaigns, public relations agencies, or large-scale infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Ability to travel 30-40% as needed.
- Must pass a pre-employment background and credit check.
