Control Engineer

We are working with a leading engineering and automation organisation seeking a Control Engineer to design, implement, and support advanced control systems across a range of industries including industrial automation, building systems, power, and infrastructure. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional with experience in PLC, SCADA, and control system integration who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

  • Develop engineering designs and documentation for small to medium projects while supporting larger programmes
  • Conduct requirements analysis and translate specifications into detailed system designs (including CAD layouts, wiring diagrams, SCADA interfaces, and communication architecture)
  • Prepare technical specifications and perform QA/QC reviews to ensure design integrity
  • Develop and support factory testing procedures and resolve technical feedback

Programming & System Integration

  • Lead the development and configuration of PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimise control systems across multiple platforms
  • Develop and execute commissioning and testing procedures
  • Produce test scripts, reports, and simulation tools to support system validation
  • Support both factory and on-site commissioning activities

Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance

  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning across project lifecycle stages
  • Support upgrades, modifications, and lifecycle maintenance of existing and legacy systems
  • Ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements

Project & Team Support

  • Conduct site surveys and contribute to estimates, bids, and proposals
  • Assist with change order evaluation and cost assessments
  • Coordinate technical activities across project teams, including engineers and technicians

Candidate Profile

Technical Experience

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics
  • Experience in system startup, configuration, calibration, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and engineering tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN
  • Hands-on experience with electrical tools and test equipment

Core Skills

  • Proficiency in industrial programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text)
  • Experience with major PLC/DDC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, ABB, Niagara)
  • Experience with SCADA systems (e.g., AVEVA/Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, FactoryTalk)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general engineering software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CAP, CSSA, or EIT
  • Vendor/platform certifications across PLC or SCADA systems

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field with 2+ years of experience,
    or a Master's degree in a related field (entry-level considered)
