Director of Controls
Location: Greater Hartford, CT
Salary: $150,000 - $210,000 + bonus
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the controls and service division, with full ownership of P&L performance
- Oversee service and automation operations, ensuring consistent execution and customer satisfaction
- Manage and support technicians, automation engineers, sales staff, and administrative personnel
- Set operational standards, workflows, and performance expectations across the division
- Partner with sales to support growth, renewals, and customer retention
- Provide technical oversight and escalation support for complex BAS and controls issues
- Drive hiring, development, and retention of high‑performing teams
- Ensure compliance with safety, labor, and contractual requirements
Required Qualifications
- Strong technical background in Building Automation Systems and HVAC controls
- Prior management experience leading service, controls, or automation teams
- Experience overseeing budgets, forecasts, and operational performance
- Ability to lead both technical and non‑technical teams effectively
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing both service and automation organizations
- Background in commercial, healthcare, higher education, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Niagara, Tridium, JCI, Siemens, or Schneider
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range of $150,000 to $210,000, depending on experience
