HVAC Controls Service Technician
Location: Greater Boston, MA
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on‑site service, diagnostics, and repair of HVAC control and building automation systems
- Troubleshoot system issues independently and provide remote support when required
- Respond to service calls in commercial and institutional facilities
- Participate in an on‑call rotation for after‑hours or emergency service
- Commission, test, and verify control sequences and system operation
- Interface directly with customers to explain issues, solutions, and recommendations
- Support preventative maintenance and system optimization efforts
- Accurately document service activities and system changes
- Perform work on projects paid under prevailing wage requirements when applicable
Required Qualifications
- 3 or more years of hands‑on experience in HVAC controls or building automation service
- Strong troubleshooting skills with controllers, field devices, and HVAC equipment
- Ability to work independently on customer sites
- Comfort supporting systems remotely as needed
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, sequences of operation, and control logic
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Greater Boston area
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Niagara, Tridium, or JCI FX platforms
- OEM or manufacturer training on major BAS platforms
- Background supporting pharmaceutical, critical environment, healthcare, higher education, or industrial facilities
Technical Competencies
- Building Automation and HVAC control systems
- Niagara Framework, Tridium, and JCI FX experience preferred but not required
- Controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs, and networking components
- BAS programming, point‑to‑point checkout, and system diagnostics
- Open protocols including BACnet and Modbus
Work Environment and Schedule
- Primarily on‑site service role in the Greater Boston area
- Occasional remote troubleshooting
- Participation in an on‑call rotation
- Mix of standard service work and prevailing wage projects

- Hourly pay range of $50 to $60 per hour, based on experience
