Senior Project Manager - Commercial Construction

Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver complex commercial construction projects across the Houston area. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, highly organized construction leader who can oversee projects from initial planning through to completion while ensuring quality, safety, budget compliance, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Planning

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate all phases of commercial construction projects.
  • Manage full project lifecycle execution or designated project components.
  • Prepare bid packages, distribute documents, and respond to bidder questions.
  • Evaluate bids, negotiate with selected contractors, and support contract award.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with design teams.

Construction Oversight

  • Select, hire, and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and site supervisors.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day site activities, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain responsibility for site operations, workforce performance, and progress tracking.
  • Ensure construction aligns with quality benchmarks, safety protocols, and project standards.

Budget, Procurement & Compliance

  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Track expenditures, labor hours, and overall financial performance.
  • Obtain necessary Houston and Texas permits; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Liaise with inspectors and regulatory agencies as required.

Change Management & Issue Resolution

  • Identify issues early and implement practical solutions.
  • Manage all change orders, including pricing, negotiation, and execution.
  • Resolve contract and scope discrepancies in a timely and fair manner.

Quality & Safety Assurance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitor worker performance and safety compliance.
  • Maintain and update detailed progress reports with the foreman.

Work Environment

  • Based on active client project sites throughout the Houston metropolitan area
  • Regular coordination with subcontractors, trades, and inspectors
  • Work performed outdoors in varied climate conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Regular standing, walking, speaking, and use of hands/arms
  • Ability to access all areas of a construction site
  • Ability to lift or handle up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and physical site activity
  • Strong visual acuity (depth perception, focus, color recognition)
  • Ability to operate standard or commercial vehicles

Education & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent experience preferred
