A growing general contractor is seeking an Assistant Heavy Civil Project Manager to support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects throughout the Boise area. This role works closely with the Project Manager and field leadership to manage cost, schedule, documentation, and subcontractor coordination on heavy civil projects such as earthwork, utilities, roadways, and related infrastructure scopes.


Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in day-to-day project execution, providing administrative and technical support across all phases of construction. This position is ideal for a candidate looking to continue building a long-term career in heavy civil construction with increasing responsibility and project ownership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and schedule updates.
  • Assist with subcontractor buyout, coordination, and contract administration, including change orders and pay applications.
  • Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily reports, and project logs.
  • Coordinate with field supervision to support means and methods, sequencing, and material deliveries.
  • Participate in project meetings with owners, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with schedule development and updates, including look-aheads and milestone tracking.
  • Support project closeout activities including as-builts, O&M manuals, and final documentation.

Experience Needed

  • 2-5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, preferably in a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager role.
  • Exposure to heavy civil scopes such as earthwork, underground utilities, roadways, structures, or public infrastructure.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors on active construction projects.

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as required.
