Job Summary
A leading heavy civil and sitework contractor in New England is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to oversee all aspects of large-scale civil construction projects. Civil sitework remains the organization's core capability and service, and it takes pride in delivering projects from inception to completion while keeping jobs on schedule. This role requires a strategic leader who ensures operational excellence, safety, and efficiency across multiple crews and job sites, while fostering strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for heavy civil and sitework projects, including excavation, grading, and site development.
- Coordinate and manage multiple crews and subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
- Oversee road construction, drainage systems, sewage installation, and utility work for commercial, residential, and renewable energy projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and project specifications across all sites.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Utilize GPS-controlled equipment and cutting-edge technology to maintain precision and efficiency.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project managers, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical or construction management training preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of site development, grading, drainage systems, and erosion control.
- Proven ability to manage multiple crews and complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
