Job Title: Licensed K-12 Architect

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Licensed Architect with a strong background in K-12 educational facility design to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will lead the planning, design, and execution of school construction and renovation projects, ensuring alignment with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) guidelines and local district standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architectural design for new K-12 schools, additions, and renovations.
- Collaborate with school district officials, engineers, and consultants to develop project scope and design criteria.
- Conduct site analysis and selection in accordance with NC DPI standards.
- Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety regulations, and educational programming requirements.
- Participate in design review conferences with NC DPI and local stakeholders.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and consultant coordination.
- Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives in school design.
- Provide mentorship to junior architects and interns.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Architect in the state of North Carolina (NCARB certification preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience with at least 3 years of K-12 educational architecture.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
- Strong knowledge of North Carolina Public School Facilities Guidelines.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Experience with site planning, space programming, and educational facility standards.
