Lead Technician, Low Voltage

The Opportunity

A leading provider of integrated technology and low voltage solutions is seeking a Lead Low Voltage Technician to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technical professional to take ownership of on-site execution, working across data, security, fire alarm, and audio-visual systems.


Role Overview

In this role, you will serve as a key field leader responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining low voltage systems across a range of project environments. You will collaborate with project teams and contractors to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards, while supporting the successful completion of projects from installation through closeout.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low voltage cabling systems (fiber, coaxial, CAT3/5/6)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
  • Perform fiber optic splicing and testing using industry-standard tools (OTDR, power meters)
  • Build and install network infrastructure including racks, patch panels, and cable pathways
  • Diagnose and resolve cable faults such as opens, shorts, and cross connections
  • Install and ground equipment in accordance with project specifications
  • Maintain accurate documentation and upload test results as required
  • Coordinate with general contractors and other trades to support project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and site-specific requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in low voltage installation and cabling systems
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic testing and troubleshooting equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Strong communication and coordination skills in construction environments
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or coordinating on-site installation activities
  • Familiarity with multiple low voltage systems including AV, security, and networking
  • Prior experience working alongside general contractors on construction projects

Work Environment

  • Field-based role working on active construction sites
  • Requires physical activity including standing, climbing ladders, and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Work may involve extended periods on-site and varied environments

Travel

  • Travel between project sites may be required
