About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a specialized design team focused on complex, mission-critical projects. This mid-level position involves cradle-to-grave design engineering, including HVAC load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and CAD drawing preparation. You'll work on challenging projects that require innovation, precision, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC load calculations and determine system sizing/layouts.
- Select HVAC equipment and prepare CAD drawings.
- Conduct field surveys and support construction activities (RFIs, submittals, punch lists).
- Research emerging HVAC technologies and prepare technical documentation.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure project success.
- Assist in proposal development and project budgeting.
Minimum Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- U.S. Citizenship and active security clearance.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design (AEC environment preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, plus Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of mechanical/plumbing/fire codes and industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
- EIT certification required.
Preferred Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with CFD software and HVAC calculation tools (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
- Familiarity with residential/commercial HVAC systems.
