Mid Level Structural Engineer - Tampa/St Pete Area
A multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its team in the Tampa Bay area. This role involves working on a variety of projects related to the assessment, design, and rehabilitation of building structures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing technical investigations, collaborating with design and construction teams, and conducting fieldwork across diverse building types.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural evaluations of existing buildings and infrastructure.
- Develop design solutions for structural repairs, reinforcements, and retrofits.
- Conduct site inspections and prepare detailed condition assessment reports.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other consultants during design and construction phases.
- Assist in forensic investigations related to structural failures or deficiencies.
- Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Support construction administration activities, including site visits and responding to RFIs.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal technical development.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews of engineering deliverables.
- Stay engaged with industry standards and best practices through professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design, evaluation, or construction.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Strong understanding of building codes, structural systems, and materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and CAD tools.
- Experience with concrete, steel, masonry, and wood design.
- Ability to travel locally for site visits and inspections.
- Familiarity with building envelope systems and interdisciplinary coordination is a plus.
