Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled PLC Technician to join our data center operations team in Atlanta. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated automation systems that support critical infrastructure within the data center. This role ensures high availability, reliability, and efficiency of automated systems that control power, cooling, and other essential processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain PLC systems for data center infrastructure (power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on automation systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Update and modify PLC programs to accommodate system upgrades or operational changes.
- Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to integrate PLC systems with Building Management Systems (BMS) and SCADA platforms.
- Document all maintenance activities, including system changes, repairs, and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and data center operational protocols during all maintenance and installation activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience working with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience in industrial automation or data center environments preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ladder logic programming and PLC troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and control wiring.
- Ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments.
- Certifications:
- PLC programming certifications (Rockwell, Siemens) are a plus.
- OSHA safety certification preferred.
