About the Company

This firm is a nationally recognised specialist within the parking and transportation infrastructure sector, operating for over 50 years in the U.S. market. The organisation employs 100+ professionals across nine offices nationally, with established teams across the Northeast, Midwest, Mid‑Atlantic, Southeast, and Mountain regions.

The practice is known for its singular focus on parking facilities, delivering planning, structural design, restoration, and construction administration services for public, private, and institutional owners. Thousands of projects have been completed across North America, ranging from stand‑alone garages to complex mixed‑use developments and mobility hubs.

The firm operates with a collaborative, design‑led culture, encouraging cross‑office knowledge sharing and long‑term career development.

Role Overview

This is a mid‑ to senior‑level structural engineering role with a clear technical leadership trajectory. The position sits within a growing structural design group and supports the delivery of new‑build parking structures across a wide range of market sectors.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior technical leadership and project principals while taking ownership of structural design delivery, coordination, and mentorship of junior staff. The role offers exposure to both hands‑on design and project‑level decision‑making, making it well‑suited for an engineer seeking long‑term technical progression without stepping away from design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the structural design of parking structures, from concept through construction
  • Produce and review structural calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical details
  • Design across multiple systems, including precast concrete, post‑tensioned and conventionally reinforced cast‑in‑place concrete, structural steel, and masonry
  • Coordinate with geotechnical, architectural, and MEP consultants to ensure fully integrated design solutions
  • Support project planning by assisting with resource allocation, scheduling, and deadline management
  • Review shop drawings, construction submittals, testing and inspection reports
  • Participate in pre‑pour meetings, site visits, and construction progress reviews, as required
  • Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of internal design standards

Qualifications

  • 6-10+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required (S.E. licensure strongly valued)
  • Strong working knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, and parking‑specific design standards including PCI and PTI
  • Demonstrated experience with parking structures or similar large‑scale concrete systems
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of:
    • RISA 3D
    • ETABS
    • SP‑Slab / SP‑Column
    • Retain‑Pro
    • PT‑Data (including beams and girders)
    • AutoCAD and Revit (working knowledge)
  • Strong analytical capability with confidence reviewing technical data and submittals
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for client‑facing project delivery

Why Join This Firm?

Industry Stability & Market Resilience
Parking and mobility infrastructure remains one of the most stable and counter‑cyclical sectors within the built environment. Facilities require ongoing design, replacement, and rehabilitation, regardless of broader economic fluctuations making this a highly durable niche within structural engineering.

Long‑Term Careers, Not Short‑Term Projects
The firm is known for employee tenure measured in decades, with many leaders having progressed internally from junior technical roles into senior leadership positions.

Recognition & Technical Credibility
Project work has received national industry recognition, including IPMI Awards of Excellence and PCI Design Award recognition for precast parking structures reflecting a consistent reputation for technical quality and constructability.

Collaborative, Specialist Environment
Rather than operating as a generalist A/E firm, the company's specialist focus allows engineers to develop deep technical expertise while still working on geographically and programmatically diverse projects.
