Project Engineer
Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in underground wet utility construction, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This position is based in San Jose, CA, and offers the opportunity to support complex civil infrastructure projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating underground utility construction activities.
- Support project managers and superintendents with daily project operations.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
- Track quantities, prepare daily reports, and support cost control and project documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project timelines.
- Support procurement, material management, and change order processes.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, qualified candidates should have:
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer working directly on underground wet utility projects involving water, sewer, or storm drain lines.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation methods, trench safety, shoring, and pipe systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, field‑focused construction environment.
- Proficiency with construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, or similar platforms (preferred).
