Project Manager - Water / Wastewater Construction

Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 DOE

A reputable heavy civil contractor in the Denver metro area is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead construction delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a PM with hands‑on construction experience managing treatment facilities and utility work-not a design‑centric or purely engineering background.


Position Overview

The Project Manager will oversee construction execution of water and wastewater projects, including treatment plants, aeration basins, clarifiers, and underground utilities. You'll manage field operations, subcontractors, schedules, and budgets while working closely with superintendents and owners to ensure successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage water and wastewater construction projects from award through closeout
  • Lead construction of treatment plants, aeration basins, clarifiers, pump stations, and utilities
  • Oversee project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and change management
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules and manpower plans
  • Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on all projects
  • Interface with owners, inspectors, and municipal agencies
  • Handle procurement, subcontracts, RFIs, and project documentation
  • Drive field productivity and resolve construction‑related challenges

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in water/wastewater construction
  • Strong background in construction execution, not primarily design or consulting
  • Experience building:
    • Water & wastewater treatment plants
    • Aeration basins & clarifiers
    • Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
    • Concrete structures and mechanical/process systems
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, means & methods
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and active job sites
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
